December 2010
From online discussion board of Psych class early last semester:
3. Give specific examples of the three paths genes take to change our environments.
The active path is in effect whenever someone himself explicitly makes choices that changes the enviroment. If I were to decide to write this response at 3 am tonight rather than now, I would be not as well-rested tomorrow, which would impact my activities and behavior throughout the day.
The passive path is demonstrated not what a person himself is doing, but by what his parents (the origin of his genes) are setting him up to do. At the earlty stages of life, a parent has a strong influence on the enviroment a child is raised in. My own parents established an enviroment where I played soccer at an early age. Their genes influenced this discision rather than my own.
The evocative path is demonstrated by the enviroment’s responces to one’s own genes. My height, weight, personality — my overall appearance and demeanor — impacts how other people interact with me and I can’t explicitly CONTROL all of those traits.
I think that karma can SOMETIMES can about via the evocative viewpoint

My reason? I have a fascination with languages. In my life, I intend to learn:
-Spanish
-French
-German
-Italian
-Russian
-ASL
Not necessarily in that order. There are also others that I cannot remember, most likely. I just want to learn all of these things.
Still not sure.
If there’s one thing that really pisses me off, it’s that. That just infuriates me.
I am who I am, dammit.
Shit.
amandaglen replied to your post: How to solve a Rubik’s Cube:

Yeah, well. :D
Hah, I can’t even solve the damn things.

Pahahahaha, that response was absolutely perfect. Why the hell have we never met before Dakin’s get-together? Heh.
